Kereama Taepa

Kereama Taepa (Te Arawa, Te Āti Awa) is from Te Awa Kairangi ki Uta / Upper Hutt, but is now based in Mount Maunganui in the Bay of Plenty. Taepa’s practice could be described as multidisciplinary, but tying it all together is his exploration of media and its innovation within Te Ao Māori.

His work is represented in major public collections, and is visible in public spaces including major sculptural commissions like Tohorā on the Kapiti Coast in 2020 and Pōhutukawa on the Tauranga waterfront in 2018. His work was included in Toi Tū, Toi Ora at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki in 2021.
