Sam Kelly

Sam Kelly is a jeweller and sculptor based in Ngāmotu New Plymouth. Kelly established The Jewel and The Jeweller alongside fellow jeweller, Jennifer Laracy. Their collaboration has led to a number of exhibitions and research projects, like one at Puke Ariki about creating artefacts for the community about Taranaki.

Kelly is interested in bones as a material, which she celebrates as a material. She loves the fact that bone can become almost unrecognisable when she uses it. In 2021, she was awarded the Richard T Nelson award for sculpture, recognising the level of craftsmanship in her work.
